In Hypertension (high blood pressure) Acebitor 5mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called ACE inhibitors. It reduces stress on the heart and relaxes the blood vessels. This widens the blood vessels and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood around your body, thereby lowering your blood pressure. Controlled blood pressure reduces the risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems. The medicine must be taken regularly, as prescribed, to be effective. You do not usually feel immediate benefit from taking this medicine, however, it helps you maintain your blood pressure in the long term.

It may be taken with or without food but try taking it at about the same time each day. It is important to continue taking it regularly even if you feel well or even if your blood pressure is controlled. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This medicine is considered safe for long-term use.Making some changes in your lifestyle will also help lower your blood pressure. These may include regular exercise, losing weight, smoking cessation, reducing alcohol intake, and reducing the amount of salt in your diet as advised by your doctor. The most common side effects of this medicine include decreased blood pressure, headache, diaerrhea, vomiting, cough, increased potassium level, fatigue, weakness, and dizziness. Talk to your doctor if any of the side effects bother you or do not go away.Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver problems. If Miss

What should I tell my doctor before taking Acebitor 5mg Tablet?::: Before taking Acebitor 5mg Tablet you must tell your doctor if you are allergic to Acebitor 5mg Tablet or any of its ingredients. You must tell the doctor if you have any problems related to heart, liver, kidneys (if you are on dialysis) or blood, such as a low white blood cell count (neutropenia or agranulocytosis). Exercise regularly and take a balanced diet that includes whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and fat-free products. Consult your doctor if you need any further guidance to get the maximum benefit of Acebitor 5mg Tablet and to keep yourself healthy.| Q. I have diabetes. Does Acebitor 5mg Tablet have any effect on blood sugar levels?::: Yes, Acebitor 5mg Tablet may have some effect on antidiabetic medicines or insulin and may lower your blood sugar levels. Therefore, you need to check your blood sugar levels regularly.| Q. After starting Acebitor 5mg Tablet, I have developed dry cough which is very irritating and is not getting better with any medicine. What should I do now?::: Acebitor 5mg Tablet may cause dry cough, as a side effect in some people. This can be persistent and may not be relieved by any medicine. Talk to your doctor if it bothers you or if you have trouble sleeping. Your doctor may suggest ways of managing the cough or may prescribe another medicine. If so, what should be done?::: Acebitor 5mg Tablet may increase potassium levels in the blood, especially if you have uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, kidney problems and dehydration. Also, potassium levels may increase in patients who are using potassium salts or medicines or are aged more than 70 years of age.
